Reservoir Dogs

5.     If you have seen any of the films that Ansen mentions in his article (Who Framed Roger Rabbit, L.A. Confidential, Body Heat, Reservoir Dogs, The Usual Suspects), describe the elements of film noir that you recall from these films.

Quentin Tarantino's debut feature Reservoir Dogs is considered by many to be classic neo noir film. The shedding of blood and the vulgarity of the crime scenes continue to inspire similar genre filmmakers, as was itself heavily influenced by other film noirs.

The film revolves around a group of professional thieves who organized a botched jewelry store robbery. From the start of the film, we learn that things have gone terribly bad, as one of the outlaws screams and squirms in agony from a gunshot wound.

As the film unfolds, we learn more about what has gone wrong during the robbery. We also learn that these men use aliases like Mr.White and Mr.Pink, because they do not know each other outside of their crime circle. We learn that one of the thieves was an undercover cop and his identity was uncovered later on when the police stormed at the warehouse.

Reservoir Dogs also played with the chronology of the story, revealing things slowly from different characters' perspectives. It was also characterized by the presence of profuse profanity, disreputable characters, and violent crimes.
